About us
Our Story
Wythall Gymnastics Club has grown from a local vision into a thriving community hub. The club was founded by Head Coach Kirsty-Lianne’s mother, with Kirsty-Lianne and her father playing vital roles from the very beginning. Over time, Kirsty-Lianne and her sisters took the reins, building upon the strong family foundation their mother created.
Kirsty-Lianne’s personal journey began at age seven, training and competing artistically for 12 years. During that time, she represented her school at both regional and national levels through the British Schools Gymnastics Association (BSGA) and began coaching at just 13 years old. Her lifelong passion for the sport naturally led to the family’s next big step: establishing Wythall Gymnastics Club.
Our first sessions were held in a small school hall, where the overwhelming demand from local parents quickly became clear. In response, Kirsty-Lianne expanded the program to welcome children from age two and upwards. This rapid growth prompted a move to Woodrush Sports Hall in July 2008.
After four successful years, the club relocated in April 2012 to our current permanent home. This transition allowed us to offer classes seven days a week for all ages and abilities, launch additional invitational squads, and partner with local schools for BSGA competitions.
As the club flourished, so did our team. Kirsty-Lianne takes great pride in mentoring coaches through their Level 1, 2, and 3 qualifications. Today, we benefit from a dedicated team—many of whom are former Wythall gymnasts themselves. In 2018, we welcomed our first apprentice, and we continue to create pathways for young people to train, qualify, and inspire the next generation.
From our humble family beginnings to the bustling center we are today, Wythall Gymnastics Club remains true to its mission: nurturing a love for gymnastics and providing every child the opportunity to shine.

Such a lovely family run club that has been well established for years! Both my kids go and have been for several years. Their knowledge is amazing, great team morals and so so supportive of all the gymnasts. My kids are so happy here!

Great family run club that our daughter has attended since January 2020, always polite, professional and friendly. Our daughter has gone from strength to strength since joining from another club, she loves the coaching staff and loves the sport. I cannot recommend WGC enough, if you are looking for a great environment for your child to learn this great sport you won’t be disappointed here!
